Der „kleine“ Beethoven Geht es um Klaviermusik, so wird Beethoven im kollektiven Bewusstsein mit den monumentalen 32 Sonaten in Verbindung gebracht – man hat sie oft genug als eine Art „Neues Testament“ bezeichnet als Gegenstück zum „Alten Testament“, dem Wohltemperierten Klavier von Bach. Doch der Komponist des Stücks Für Elise hat sich über Jahrzehnte auch den Bagatellen gewidmet, diesen „kleinen Nichtigkeiten“, die ihm in Wahrheit viel bedeuteten. Auch hier, in der Gattung der kleinen Form par excellence, hat Beethoven die Grundlagen der Klavierminiatur gelegt. Ob sie nun einige Minuten oder einige Sekunden dauern: Diese Bagatellen sind jedenfalls Meisterwerke!
