Theatre of Voices create a unique mosaic in sound with this program of chant and polyphony drawn from both Eastern and Western Europe. The common thread running through all the music is what might be called a medieval sensibility towards sound and expression. The title refers to the fragmented survival of the distant musical past in manuscript collections which are often in incomplete or damaged condition, and to the fragmentation of Christianity into Eastern Orthodoxy and Western Catholicism.
