Royal Suites Besides his innumerable cantatas and his Tafelmusik, Telemann devoted himself with enormous skill to the writing of Ouvertüren, the orchestral suites in the French style which were so much esteemed in the kingdom of Frederick II. Some of them have even kept their French titles, like the unambiguously descriptive La Chasse, or La Musette. Others, like the Suite tragi-comique and the Overture in D major have acquired genuine popularity. All of them bear witness to the exceptional technical skills possessed by Telemann, the most famous composer in Baroque Germany during the first half of the 18th century.
