Star lutenist Paul O’Dette revives the seldom-heard music of Nicolas Vallet, one of the finest lute composers of his day. Born c. 1583 in France, Vallet preferred the career of a free-lance musician and dance instructor in Holland to the glamour and fame of a life at the court. Dazzling the audience with his brilliance and skill, Vallet excelled in a variety of genres and styles including lively French dances, elaborate variations, arrangements of Elizabethan ballads, and contrapuntal psalm-settings.

“Lute-playing doesn’t come much better than this.” – BBC Music Magazine
