Exquisite sketches…
Chopin's Preludes, viewed as a whole, are perhaps the most ambiguous and enigmatic of all his works. A disorientated Schumann saw in them "sketches, rough drafts or, if you like, remains of studies, scattered eagle feathers, and all in gaudy disorder. (…) The collection contains passages that are morbid, feverish, unpleasant; let each man find what he can here."
Alain Planès plays a piano by Steinway & Sons, 1906 (Andriessen, Netherlands).
This CD was released for the first time in 2001.
