Oswald von Wolkenstein (literally ‘Oswald of the castle in the clouds’) is one of the greatest enigmas of the history of western music. This key figure of German literature travelled all over 15th-century Europe and handed his works down to posterity in sumptuous anthologies. Andreas Scholl and his partners bring back to life this prolific knight-poet-minstrel, precise and vigorous in his texts, a passionate lover of travel and song.
