Aline Piboule
Biography
Ever since her debut, Aline Piboule has offered audiences much more than a traditional recital. By mixing different eras and repertories, she passionately explores musical worlds that intersect and enrich each other, creating subtle mirror effects that invite the public to listen in a different way. Her programmes, built around varied topics, help to demystify the classical recital, while championing a very extensive repertory and forgotten composers.
A regular guest at major festivals and concert halls in France and abroad, she has performed at such venues as the Philharmonie de Paris, La Roque-d’Anthéron, La Folle Journée de Nantes, the Festival Berlioz de la Côte Saint-André, the Festival de Radio France Occitanie, Piano aux Jacobins in Toulouse, Les Lisztomanias, Piano(s) Lille Festival, the Arsenal de Metz, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Fundación Beethoven in Buenos Aires and the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
She builds bridges with the other arts in order to stimulate the imagination in new ways and reach a wider audience. Since 2020, she has also performed with the writer Pascal Quignard (winner of the Prix Goncourt and author of the novel Tous les matins du monde, among others) in a number of ‘Récit-Récital’ events in France and abroad.
Aline Piboule’s solo discography has earned her the highest distinctions in the press (Le Monde, 4 ffff Télérama, 5 Diapasons, CHOC de Classica, Supersonic Award from Pizzicato, etc.). Her Fauré/Dutilleux disc (Artalinna) was listed in Classica’s ‘Discographie idéale du piano’, and her album of rare French music (on the label Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo) was among the fifteen CHOCs of the year 2021 awarded by Classica and by Crescendo magazine in Belgium, and was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA 2022) in the solo instrumentalist category. The release of this recording also saw the publication of a profile of Aline Piboule by Pierre Gervasoni in the newspaper Le Monde. Her third solo disc, coincidentia oppositorum, released in March 2024 on the Artalinna label, is devoted to the links between the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Liszt and Olivier Greif, and features the world premiere recording of a sonata by Greif.
As a chamber musician, she has made two recordings with the flautist Jocelyn Aubrun.
Aline Piboule is committed to passing on her skills and sharing them with future generations. She has organised recitals with the Jeunesses Musicales de France, giving young audiences their first taste of the piano repertory from Chopin to the present day.
As a qualified teacher, holding the Certificat d’Aptitude de piano and the Diplômes d’État in vocal and instrumental accompaniment, she also gives piano lessons at masterclasses and teaches chamber music at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris.
Aline Piboule studied at the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs de Musique et de Danse of Lyon and Paris, and was also a pupil of Jean Saulnier at the Université de Montréal. In 2014 she won five prizes at the Orléans International Piano Competition.
In recognition of her talent and commitment, Aline Piboule has been appointed ‘Artiste Génération SPEDIDAM’ for a period of three years from 2022.
