Biography

Cédric Tiberghien studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris with Frédéric Aguessy and Gérard Frémy and went on to win prizes at several major international piano competitions (Bremen, Dublin, Tel Aviv, Geneva, Milan), culminating in the First Prize and no fewer than ve special prizes at the prestigious Long-Thibaud Competition in Paris in 1998. With over sixty concertos in his repertory, he has appeared with some of the world’s nest orchestras, including the Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Washington National Symphony, Seattle Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra, Hamburger Philharmoniker, Philharmonie Dresden, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Sydney Symphony, Tokyo Philharmonic and New Japan Philharmonic, under such conductors as Christoph Eschenbach, Jiří Bělohlávek, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Simone Young, Myung-Whun Chung, Kurt Masur, Iván Fischer, Jeffrey Tate, Louis Langrée, Ludovic Morlot, Stéphane Denève and Enrique Mazzola.

He has given recitals at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall and Barbican Hall in London, the Salle Pleyel and Théâtre des Champs- Élysées in Paris, the Bechstein Centrum in Berlin, the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Salzburg Mozarteum, Flagey in Brussels, the Sydney Opera House, the Bunka Kaikan and Asahi Halls in Tokyo and the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul.

Cédric Tiberghien has made several solo recordings for harmonia mundi (Bach, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, Martinů). He is also a dedicated chamber musician, with regular partners including Alina Ibragimova, Antoine Tamestit and Pieter Wispelwey.
